Flux Noir is an experimentational series into how glass reacts with colour and heat.
The amount of clear glass that is needed for the piece is gathered and a single coloured glass stripe is added to the outside surface. The mass of glass is then blown into a vessel, its form decided and influenced by the glass colour stripe.
Glass in different colours absorb and respond to heat slightly differently. For example, white glass takes a longer amount of time to absorb heat than black glass, so if put together and exposed to heat, the white will remain stable and the black will became soft and crinkle first.
This series explores and emphasises the inherent characteristics of the glass.
